UFS 211- Unit 2: Sentence Structure (task 2)



 Compound sentence

1.  I tried to speak Spanish, and my friend tried to speak English. 
2.  Alejandro played football, so Maria went shopping.
3.  Mary and Samantha arrived at the library before noon, and they left by cab before i 
4.  The little girl agreed that they should eat more K, but her friend disagreed.
5.  Mira hid under the bed, while Lenny hid in the cabinet.
6.  Sharul went shopping, so Shelby played netball.
7.  I tried to speak Spanish, and my friend tried to speak French.
8.  I went hiking, but my friend went jogging.
9.  My dog likes to eat grass, even though she's not allowed.
10. The dog like to play fetch, while the cat likes to roll in the grass.
11. I got an A on my test, even though I did not have a lot of time to study.
12. Meg brought the food, so Kate set the table.


 Complex sentences.


 1.   Because the bridge wasn't properly maintained by the government, it fell down.
 2.  Although he ate a really big dinner, now he wants to eat cake for dessert.
 3.   Whenever they eat at this restaurant, they order a hamburger and fries.
4.   He'll be able to maintain a healthy weight if he keeps exercising.
 5.   Because the world is getting warmer, polar bears are in danger of becoming  extinct.
6.   When he handed in his homework, he forgot to give the teacher the last page.
7.   The teacher returned the homework after she noticed the error. 
 8.   The students are studying because they have a test tomorrow.
 9.   After they finished studying, Marry and Maria went to the movies.
10.   Andi and Jery went to the movies after they finished studying.


 Compound – complex sentence.

1. We enlarged our house, and after we had finished the work, we moved to Hawaii never returned.
2. The vacation should be restful, but many people take vacations that are never resful.
3. Dad went fishing, but Mom stayed home because she wanted to be there when Terri arrival.
4.   Although I enjoy shopping, I haven't been to the mall in two weeks, and I am broke!
5.   If I earn money from my chores, I will buy a new purse, but I don't get my allowance
6.   Annie lived in the north, but the Sheena, who knew she was rich, lived in the side.
7.   Though her answers are proved correct, but one of our classmate said not
  our teacher also said that it is wrong, which who do not really understand the sentence.
8.  Cody residing at St. Claire, and Levi residing at St. Mary, since they are far from
     each other, they are still good friends.
9.  If Barack Obama is the nominee for the Democratic Party, he'll run against John
    McCain, but it won't be an easy contest to win.
